Top 5 TV/Film Songs

5. Before bar singers, town troubadours, and The Lonely Island there was a local cafe singer. Phoebe Buffay, dare I call her the originator, made us all smile and laugh singing her way into the hearts of many Central Perk goers with unique 30 second songs. There was "Sticky Shoes," "Paper Mache Man" and "The Holiday Song," but above all there was "Smelly Cat."

4. Jason Segel's musical talents first surprised me with # 2 on this list, but his songs in Forgetting Sarah Marshall impressed me all the same. Maybe it's my love of vampires or maybe it's my love of musicals, but I thought this little Dracula gem was kind of genius. My favorite part is the end: "Die. Die. Die. I can't!"

3. Robin Scherbatsky, played by Cobie Smulders, has a past as a Canadian teen pop singer, Robin Sparkles. Her hit single, "Let's Go to the Mall", made me laugh with the outfits and dance moves, but I prefer "Sandcastles in the Sand." With James Van Der Beek (as Simon), Alan Thicke and Tiffany cameos, how could you not love it?

2. Thanksgiving is one week away and although it's not my favorite holiday, this How I Met Your Mother episode is my favorite holiday episode. Not that I'm condoning violence, but it makes me want to slap someone on Thanksgiving just to laugh and sing "You Just Got Slapped." I love the James Brown reference at the end of the music video. I can't wait for next weeks episode, "Revenge of the Slap."

1. Every girl would be flattered to have their musician boyfriend write them a song (except a mean/breakup song). But sometimes those songs are better when not shared with the whole family. Dylan, Haley Dunphy's boyfriend on Modern Family, obviously thought "In the Moonlight (Do Me)" was an appropriate song to perform in front of her entire family. I couldn't find a clip from the episode, "The Incident," which will re-air next Wed., so the music video will have to do. Catchy, hilarious and completely inappropriate, you kind of have to admit it's a little good... in a bad way.

Bonus: Who could forget Aldous Snow's, Russell Brand's character, "Inside of You"? I actually think this song is a little similar to "In the Moonlight (Do Me)." I think the writers used a little Russell Brand/Aldous Snow as inspiration for Dylan. I can see it. And of course, reality TV star/Skateboard Pro Rob Dyrdek's alter ego Bobby Light and "Dirty Girl," featuring The Chunky boys (a.k.a his bodyguard/best friend and their other friend).

Freaks & Geeks

I've been on a Freaks and Geeks marathon this week. Why is it that the best shows only last about a season? My So Called Life...another prime example. If you're not familiar with the show, get familiar. You already are with most of it's stars. Best part is that you can catch the entire season/series on youtube! Once you start, you won't stop. Off to finish the final episodes...

The theme song has been stuck in my head all week. I love it. So, now I pass it on to be stuck in yours.

Only 1 Hour to Go

...until the premiere of Project Runway. Yessss!!!! I'm too excited for words. I can't wait to see the new contestants, the judges, and of course Tim Gunn again. Tune in tonight to Bravo to catch it. [[and if the 1 hour to go didn't give it away, it starts at 9 p.m.]]

If your looking for a few laughs also check out Baby Borrowers on NBC.

So You Think You Can Dance

It's finally down to the top 10 on SYTYCD, which means we're halfway to the finale. Last week had to be one of the best men's solos I've seen on the show thus far. Thayne, Will and Twitch all gave amazing solos. I had to agree with Nigel when he said he wished he could have sent home two of the girls and kept all three guys. Although Comfort was eliminated last week, she will be returning to the show to take the place of Jessica. Jessica, who was also in the bottom three last week, injured herself and will not be continuing with the competition. It sucks that Jessica had to leave the competition that way, but I believe this would have been her last week. With new partners I wonder how everyone will do, including Comfort. I would love to see a turn around in her performance, but I think she'll be eliminated again. Let's see if she proves me wrong.

My top 3 dancers:
  1. Katie
  2. Will
  3. Twitch

Tune in tonight, 8 p.m. on Fox.

Fall Preview: The CW

The CW has three [[well, two kind of]] new shows premiering this fall, Stylista, 90210 [[the remake?]], and Surviving The Filthy Rich.

Stylista
Stylista is a reality show, brought to you by Tyra Banks, following 11 "assistants" to Elle's Fashion News Director, Anne Slowey. Like any other reality competition, the show eliminates one assistant per week until one hopeful wins a real job at Elle. The show seems really scripted and too much like a wannabe The Devil Wears Prada. The similarities come into play when Slowey enters the office and immediately throws her jacket and purse onto the receptionist's desk and later when she evaluates each competitors outfit and breakfast tray.[[you'll understand when you see the show or preview]] The grand prize does seem quite nice. The winner of the competition gets a paid editorial position [[at ELLE, of course]], a paid lease on a great apartment in Manhattan, and a clothing allowance at H&M. However, this is only guaranteed for one year...I wonder if ELLE will choose to keep their new addition after the year contract. Despite how fake the show seems, I'm not going to lie, I'll still tune in to see how crazy the assignments will be. Check out the preview below.

My favorite part is when the British guy [[i think he's British]] goes "I'm not really a backstabber in an evil way!" [[too funny]] Besides having to plan Slowey's niece a birthday party and creating the perfect breakfast for her, i'm eager to see what else they have planned from the show.

90210
Ok...I used to watch the original and I have to say I'm a bit worried. I have no idea where they are planning to take the show. There are a few familiar faces in the cast. Lori Loughlin [[Full House]], Shenea Grimes [[Degrassi: The Next Generation]], AnnaLynn McCord [[Nip/Tuck]], Jessica Walter [[Arrested Development]], Tristan Wilds [[The Wire]], and Ryan Eggold [[Dirt]] are all a part of the cast. Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, and Rob Estes, from the original Beverly Hills: 90210 and Melrose Place[[the "spinoff"]], are also said to participate in the show. They've only taped a pilot so we'll see if the network picks up the show. Check out a glimpse of the show below.

I find the storyline of a small town family moving to a big California city [[if you count Beverly Hills to be a city]] and said family having an adopted black son to be very similar to The N's South of Nowhere. [[I know, I know...The N is kind of a guilty pleasure, don't judge me!]]

Surviving The Filthy Rich
There hasn't been much buzz surrounding this show...but who knows it could end up to be an underdog. The show is centered around a hopeful journalist who becomes the tutor of two orphaned [[well they still have their grandmother]] twin girls, who are filthy rich. The main character is played by JoAnna Garcia, who played Cheyenne on Reba. I liked Reba, so I'm willing to give Filthy Rich a chance. Check out a clip of the show below.

It's Back!

One of my favorite summer TV shows and dance competition shows, So You Think You Can Dance, is back. They start the competition with the top 20 dancers of this season tonight. I can't wait! Tune in tonight at 8 p.m.

Another One Bites The Dust

...or should I say Dirt. BuzzSugar reported earlier this week that one of my favorite shows from this past season has just been canceled [[much to my dismay]]! Dirt will not be returning to FX for it's third season. Needless to say, I am very saddened by this news. Just when I picked up the show it gets dropped. What's with all the good shows getting canceled? Well, Dirt will forever live in my memory and in my dvd collection [[as soon as I buy it]].

In honor of shows that die prematurely, here's a scene from one of my favorite shows...

Everybody Loves Sex!

It's been about four years since we've had 'Sex' and our last time left us craving more. After a long wait the time has finally come for us to climb back into bed with [[and the lives of]] our four favorite girls; Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte. Now as much as I'm a fan of the show I wasn't sure how much I wanted to see the movie in theatres when they confirmed it. [[rumors about a SATC movie started not too long after the show ended]] I admit after finally seeing the trailer I was a little excited but definitely didn't want to go see it on opening night. [[i hate going to the movies when it's busy...too many people]] That decision only intensified as promotion for the movie began taking us into 'Sex' overload revealing a world full of 'sex'aholics. I think I'll wait until the hype dies down and I can enjoy the movie without hundreds of people ruining it.

Speaking of the SATC movie...I have to say I loved Sarah Jessica Parker's outfit at the London premiere. Some might have criticized it. [[saying she looked like Kermit the Frog lol]] I don't know why, but I found it to be quite cute. I didn't realize those were butterflies on her hat, those I probably could've done without.

I Just Have to Say...

i'm nervous about the return of fraggle rock. i mean, i loved the show in the 80s, and their musical stylings were hot. But, i dunno; i might be scared of the fuzzy creatures now...
